Doing proper maintenance and care on your golf clubs
often is important to ensure the shelf life of your clubs and also give you the
best shots. If the grooves of your clubs are filled with dirt, it can throw off
the accuracy and distance of your shot. To avoid this, it is recommended to
clean your clubs at least once a week, depending on how often you use them.

Prepare the
Cleaning Solution
An easy to make cleaning solution for your clubs is
dishwashing soap and warm water! Mix equal parts to get a nice soapy mixture in
a bucket. Do not use too hot if water as this can also damage your clubs. Once
you finish making the solution, you can submerge the entire head of your club and
let it soak to loosen up any mud, dirt, etc.
Clean Out the
Grooves
Using either a wire club brush or even a soft bristled
toothbrush, gently scrub the grooves and head of your clubs. It is important
not to scrub too hard if you are using a wire club brush because you do not
want to scratch the surface of your clubs!
Properly Rinse Off
the Dirt
You will want to make sure all the debris you’ve scrubbed
off is cleaned off your club. Try to avoid wetting other parts of your club to
prevent potential rusting and damage to the surfaces.
Don’t Forget the
Grip!
You will also want to clean the grip part of your club
with a warm moist rag. This is important because if there is oil, grease, etc.
this can affect your grip and swing! You will also want to do a thorough check
to see if the grip needs to be replaced.
Let It Dry
Completely
Once you are done rinsing off the dirt, you will want to
thoroughly wipe down the moisture on your clubs. Do no put your clubs in the
bag unless you are sure they are dried because if they are not, the potential
for rust to form will increase.
