Picking the Right Golf Shoe For Your Needs

While golf shoes aren’t a requirement on most golf courses, wearing them will improve your game and your golfing experience. Golf shoes are built to offer you comfort and support that other shoes do not give. They are designed to allow easy maneuvering throughout the different terrain of a golf course; the spikes offer traction on short grass that can be slippery when wet, support on the hilly terrain, etc. The spikes allow for a nice grip so that your swing is steadier but it will also not do extensive damage to the course itself. As a result, for a better experience when golfing, consider investing in a high quality shoe! For some tips on selecting the best golf shoe for you, please read on!
Frequency of Play
If you plan to play a lot, you will want to invest in a higher quality shoe than someone who will only play a couple of times a year. The better quality shoes and materials will usually cost a lot more and as a result, if golf is a game you want to invest a lot of time into, you will have to be prepared to invest money as well! If you plan to play a lot, you will want a shoe that has a lot of breathability, comfort, and support.
Fitting Process
Finding the right golf shoes shouldn’t be a quick thing. You also want to make sure you come ready to try on shoes with everything you’d wear on the course. You should wear the socks you wear when you golf and also bring your clubs you use. Walk around in the shoes for at least 10 minutes and take several practice swings. If the shoes don’t feel comfortable, do not spend any extra time thinking about them and especially, do not buy. If they don’t bring comfort right away, they typically will not, even over time.

How to Properly Clean Your Golf Clubs

Doing proper maintenance and care on your golf clubs often is important to ensure the shelf life of your clubs and also give you the best shots. If the grooves of your clubs are filled with dirt, it can throw off the accuracy and distance of your shot. To avoid this, it is recommended to clean your clubs at least once a week, depending on how often you use them.
For great tips on cleaning your clubs, read this blog!
Prepare the Cleaning Solution
An easy to make cleaning solution for your clubs is dishwashing soap and warm water! Mix equal parts to get a nice soapy mixture in a bucket. Do not use too hot if water as this can also damage your clubs. Once you finish making the solution, you can submerge the entire head of your club and let it soak to loosen up any mud, dirt, etc.
Clean Out the Grooves
Using either a wire club brush or even a soft bristled toothbrush, gently scrub the grooves and head of your clubs. It is important not to scrub too hard if you are using a wire club brush because you do not want to scratch the surface of your clubs!
Properly Rinse Off the Dirt
You will want to make sure all the debris you’ve scrubbed off is cleaned off your club. Try to avoid wetting other parts of your club to prevent potential rusting and damage to the surfaces.
Don’t Forget the Grip!
You will also want to clean the grip part of your club with a warm moist rag. This is important because if there is oil, grease, etc. this can affect your grip and swing! You will also want to do a thorough check to see if the grip needs to be replaced.
Let It Dry Completely
Once you are done rinsing off the dirt, you will want to thoroughly wipe down the moisture on your clubs. Do no put your clubs in the bag unless you are sure they are dried because if they are not, the potential for rust to form will increase.
